My Nutrition Therapy Approach

My practice is weight inclusive with a non-diet, Health At Every Size ® (HAES) approach. In a nutshell, that means I will never put you on a weight loss diet. The Health At Every Size ® paradigm celebrates body diversity and encourages compassionate, individualized self-care. The research is clear that focusing on weight loss is not a helpful solution. Rather, it is the slow yet empowering work of learning to tune into and trust our bodies that improves satisfaction and health outcomes.

I strive to remain grounded and guided by evidence-based best practices for nutrition therapy. I pull tools and techniques from various frameworks that have been proven effective for the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating and general nutrition therapy, including Motivational Interviewing, Mindful Eating, Intuitive Eating, trauma-informed practices, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am a proud member of the International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians (IFEDD) and the Columbia River Eating Disorders Network (CREDN).

Where I Practice

I am currently only offering virtual sessions.

Things I can help with as your nutrition therapist:

– Discovering a way of eating that brings consistent joy and nourishment, rather than shame, guilt, or discomfort
-Weeding through confusing nutrition information and tuning into your body’s insight around eating
-Navigating what to eat after a new medical diagnosis
-Compassionately addressing body image concerns
-Taking into account your story and complete health history, we will work together to ensure you are nourishing your body and feeling satisfied in your relationship with food
